Newbury Electronics / PCB train Client Note on Coronavirus Covid-19
Updated 24th March 2020
Dear Valued Clients,
In what is a testing time for all of us I would like to share some additional information as to how Newbury
Electronics is operating during the Coronavirus pandemic.
In general: In order to protect our workforce, all non-direct staff members are now remote working. It is very much business as usual and we are reacting to our customers’ needs in the normal way. Phones are rerouted so you can interact with the business in the normal way. Yesterday’s lockdown mandate does not alter our strategy which is to keep all direct staff members working and the shop floor open.
We have taken in-house preventative measures including stringent cleaning and disinfecting measures, apart from staff only allowing essential contractors (cleaning etc) into the factories, we are educating staff as to their responsibilities and providing PPE where is practical.
We have enough raw material to see us well into 2021. Clients can help by ensuring non delay in order placement, this gives us the best chance of managing work at peak times. There is excess capacity.
There are selective component delays on a case by case basis dependant on what’s needed. This is primarily linked to Chinese factory shutdowns during the Coronavirus outbreak. There are also reports of component price rises, allocations and full order rescheduling on a selective basis. The effect of this can be mitigated by providing accepted alternatives on customer bills of materials and by placing orders as early as possible in order for us to secure the free stock that does exist. We have unrivalled surplus capacity given our extensive robotic lines and we are achieving the due dates required by our clients.
Design (Newbury Innovation)
The design side of the business will be largely unaffected. Staff members have taken vital equipment home to remote working, they are log in securely to our servers as and when is needed.
Laser Cut Stencils / Conformal Coating
We have ample stock to keep these services operating efficiently.
We will share further information with you as it becomes apparent, and hope you all stay safe and well.
